concept
One of my most favorite projects being our Director for dig magazine, was working on the inner child issue, which was released in winter of 2023. the issue focuses on stories that correlate to nostalgia and how our generation has aimed to fulfill our inner child. for this issue, I obviously wanted the feeling that it provoked to be incredibly colorful, playful and overall feel like the reader is jumping into a catalog that they read when they were eight years old.
When developing the visual aesthetics for this issue, I immediately knew we needed to incorporate a ton of visuals from our childhood, specifically catering to the gen z audience; we took a look at stories of people who would collect toys and books that they felt they couldn’t get when they were younger. the visuals for the stories aim to look like their eight-year-old selves had designed the spreads, hand, drawn titles, crayons, glittery, stickers, and more. the inner child is within all of us and this issue was one of the most impactful pieces I’ve ever got to work on.
